IP67/68 Waterproof Leak Testing
Battery cases, sealed wearables, electrical housings, AV sensor enclosures and similar highly sensitive components must be protected from damage by water ingression. IP 67 testing assures that a part can be exposed to water at 1 meter depth for up to 30 minutes without damage to the electronics inside the enclosure. IP 68 testing assures that a part can be exposed to water at 3 meter (generally) depth for a customer specified time.
InterTech’s M1075 Mass Flow Sealed Product Leak Test Instruments test sealed package integrity to IP 67/68 standard with built-in error proofing in its test circuit design. The M1075 instruments provide excellent repeatability of test results at the highest test speeds.

Methodology
An accumulator is charged with double or more pressure of the test part, such that it releases its pressure into a reservoir in the test circuit that is outside the test chamber. The test chamber and reservoir are isolated. Leakage is measured as it flows out of the reservoir into the test part. The circuit design creates stable measurements, and also allows identification of either gross leaks or leaks in the test chamber itself. In this way, a complete IP 67/68 leak test is done without pressurizing the part.
