Is your test system optimized for multiple parts testing?
Whether multiple parts’ testing with single regulator instruments is done simultaneously or sequentially, speed and/or accuracy is predictably compromised. Ultimately, the ROI of multiple regulator multi-channel leak test instruments boils down to simple math.
Contact 847-679-3377 to schedule a quick no-cost consult with an InterTech Test Engineering Specialist on how an 8-regulator leak test instrument will impact your bottom line.
Visit Chicago –Visit InterTech – Labor Day Weekend
Did you know that —outside of Poland— you will find the largest population of Polish people living in the city of Chicago?
On Labor Day weekend, you can taste that statistic at the yearly TASTE OF POLONIA Festival. It’s not just the food— it’s 60 performances by Polish musicians, dancers and more.
OR— come to Chicago for the Jazz! That very same weekend, Chicago hosts the legendary Chicago Jazz Festival— considered by most as THE Jazz event of the country’s heartland.
OR— catch the final fireworks display of the summer at Chicago’s famed Navy Pier.
AND while you are in Chicago— Make your pre- or post Labor Day Weekend holiday appointment to visit InterTech’s Test Engineering Laboratory.
Email to sales@intertechdevelopment.com to schedule an appointment for a full-day in-depth consultation on your leak and functional testing challenges.
Clearing Up Some Leak Test Confusions
In this column we answer questions from InterTech customers and also take on some misleading information that manufacturers of Brand X leak detectors have been disseminating.

Question: A single regulator test instrument with multiple channels is more cost efficient than test channels with independent regulators— YES???
Answer: NO! Inherent inaccuracy of testing parts in sequence due to calibration issues is just one of several reasons why a single regulator for testing multiple parts is inferior (and more costly!).
The numbers can be quite significant. Consider a four-channel leak tester with a single regulator — a system that had been widely used in the past— compared to an 8-channel leak tester, with each test channel controlled by it’s own regulator—InterTech’s ECO2 Leak Tester. The older leak test technology— four channels with a single regulator— can slow the test process by as much s 4X. Inaccurate measurements in the older systems can also be quite significant. Sometimes this inaccuracy compared to a certified orifice can be off by as much as a factor of two.
Calibration Matters!
Bottom Line: 8 Regulators are better than one or four. A single test instrument with 8 channels— each calibrated independently and having its own regulator— is best of all.
InterTech’s deep bench of test engineering talent and experience can help your team plan process improvement by detailing the ROI of state-of-the-art leak test technology specific to your application. Are Unreliable Calibrations Affecting Test Accuracy?
Many think of instrument calibration as something to master when operationalizing a test solution. Making calibration a last step matter—instead of an upfront consideration— may be undermining both the accuracy and speed of your leak testing solution. In many scenarios— and especially for multiple parts testing— upfront consideration of calibration is the antidote for preventing erosion of your bottom line.
InterTech’s Test Engineering specialists are now offering a no-cost one-on-one tutorial on the A, B, C’s of Calibration geared for your specific application requirements. To schedule this one-hour personalized tutorial, contact 847-679-3377.
But Will It Last?
When your product has multiple parts that hinge on one component functioning, you need functional tests that assure that critical component won’t fail.
An example is HEUIs (Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injectors) that choreograph timing and pressure to be controlled independently of engine speed in modern diesel engines. Most of the world leaders in high quality HEUI manufacture rely on InterTech’s functional testing expertise for fatigue cycle testing, step load testing and constant load testing.
If your application similarly needs to streamline functional testing BEFORE products are released to market InterTech can help. Contact 847-679-3377 for more information.
InterTech eco2 Success Story— Occlusion Testing Multiple Needle Assemblies
1.8 seconds…
That’s how long it takes the InterTech eco2 to do occlusion testing of needle assemblies in varying dimensions. Testing is thorough yet barely impacts production rates.
